Recipe: Baked apples with walnuts and dried fruit
Feel like something sweet, but want to stay healthy?
Here is a recipe for you.
- 6 apples, any type is fine (if you want little less sugar in it go for green ones)
- 1 cup of raw walnuts
- Half a cup of brown or raw sugar
- A handful of dried fruit
Wash the apples, peel them and cut out the middle bit with all the pits and inedible stuff, but not all the way through, leave a little bit at the bottom of the apple otherwise the filling will fall out.
Mix the nuts, sugar and dried fruit in a bowl. Spoon the mixture in the apples, set up in small baking dish, filling side up. Spray the apples with a light coat of olive oil, sprinkle with a little bit of brown sugar and bake for 30-40 minutes on low or until the apples are tender all the way through and the nuts on the top are crispy but not burnt.
